SUMMER SPRUCE UP

Do you enjoy changing things up a little when you find something new, or in the case of antiques, old? I love to spruce things up a bit when I bring something new home. I found a clock for my kitchen, and a clock for the portico. I decided to add a  bit of color to the foyer with lavender with a metal pitcher my DIL gave me. My rabbit topiary is finally getting some ivy growth to it, so I moved him to the sitting area on the portico, and one last thing I did to change things up a little was make a new vignette in my study with yes, another Laura Ashley tea set, replacing the french faience platter.  These little changes add a fresh look to enjoy throughout the summer. The clocks have found a new home so they'll be hanging around (no pun intended) for awhile. I sure would like to hear how and when you change your decor.

FOYER

If I have guest coming I love to add a few stems of fresh flowers
in a pretty container to the foyer, but for a little color its just so easy to add
a few stems of artificial flowers for everyday

  1. Hello Emily:
We have so much enjoyed looking at all the different thigs you are doing in your house for summer. You are obviously a great believer in the maxim 'a change is as good as a rest'.

We ourselves tend to be of the opposite school, that is to say, once we have put something into position it most often remains there for all time. However, this post has inspired us to rethink some of our rooms.

We like the way in which you create small vignettes on tabletops to create points of interest.

  4. Hi Emily, I love the French country kitchen clock. The fleur-de-lis pattern always reminds me of my mother, she loved it. Many years ago she had wallpaper in her bedroom with that design. I am still not getting your new posts and I see I am still a follower. I am going to do what BJ suggests. xo,

I have to say I just love the Mora clock and ask where did you find it? I have been wanting one of the large ones but I only see them on the web and SO expensive. Maybe one day.

  28. Hi Emily, I just met "new to me" bloggers via your charming blog and didn't remember ever visiting an "Emily" until just now visiting again. My rememberer isn't functioning as well as I'd like.

I really like your idea of mixing fresh and faux flowers and will try to employ that idea myself. Since I have no foyer, I'll probably use the dresser behind the sofa for that.

Your new clocks have a lot of style...very nice!
