ALL HEARTS COME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

 CHRISTMAS JOY

Christmas is my favorite time of year, the merriest of holidays. Our home was full of music and laughter, and now that everyone has gone home I now have time to look at my photographs and cherish the memories we made. It’s time to enjoy the little twinkling lights for a last few evenings before the tree comes  down.  Here are some of my Christmas decorations. We started late with decorations this year so I kept it simple, adding topiaries, baubles and pillows. Everything will be easy to put away except for our big tree and Jim enjoys doing that. So, turn up the music and get yourself a favorite drink and come for a visit. Warning, a lot of photos!

Santa’s elves making merry bringing in the trees for the mantle.

Festive touch for the sofa with pillows.

Living Room

I purchased these Christmas cards while in France, then framed and matted them.

 Christmas Fairies

A Christmas cactus several years old, a gift from my sister. A gift that keeps giving me beautiful pink presents at Christmas!

Street scene with ornaments.

A Nativity set I purchased in Italy for my mother and father-in-law. Since my MIL doesn’t do a lot of decorating now, she has returned all the gifts given to her from family members. I now enjoy displaying the set in my living room.

More seasonal pillows.  I love the velvet bows.

Silver tray filled with baubles and silver wire starry string lights.

The Library is where we have our big tree.

Tablescape for our Christmas Eve

Pottery is Vietri Rosso Vecchio, stems with candy canes and holly from TJ Max and flatware from Reed and Barton in the Williamsburg pattern (Santa’s early gift to me this year).

I love to add favorite cards, gifts add Christmas treats here.

  1. What a treat your Christmas post is! I sang along with Andy Williams and looked again and again at each photo. I loved everything, but especially the pillows with the bows and your gorgeous angels...and the framed French Christmas cards. Beautiful!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful New Year.

  2. Oh my stars!!! I don't know where to begin. It's like a candy store for me, looking at one thing, then the next. It's all so beautiful. The "woody" pillow is a favorite - but then again everything else is too.

Glad to hear your Christmas was wonderful and hope you have a very happy new year too!

  3. Everything is lovely - what a beautiful Christmas table.

My family does not love Christmas music, but on Christmas Eve when my kids arrived they immediately insisted on Christmas music for 2 days.

Enjoy the last vestiges of the holiday at your house.

  4. Emily, I relished seeing each one of these photos. Made me feel as if we had had a Christmas visit. First off, I need to know your secret for repeat blooms each year on the Christmas cactus. I've not had much luck, but a friend gave us a large Christmas cactus this year full of blooms. It's now dropped most with just a few buds left to open. What do I do now to keep it healthy and ready to bloom again next Christmas?
Secondly, I adore your Christmas pillows. They are wonderful and new to me. The French Christmas cards are gorgeous, and a great idea to mat and frame them to enjoy.
Thirdly, your kitchen hutch looks so festive with all the special touches of ornaments, cards, and such. Would love to see a full view shot, so if you have one, please send it to me. '-)
Lastly, the tartan tablescape is sheer delight for this tartan lovin gal. I know your family enjoyed the holidays at your beautiful home with all these special touches. It's obvious that a lot of love and care goes into decorating your home. ~ Sarah

  11. How do I love this powt? Let me count the ways -- except that I'm afraid I'll leave one off! Love your tree-bearing elves and that we both used silver ornies in our silver trays! The beautiful Christmas cards are stunning in the frame treatment you did and oh, how I love both the table settings! Pure and simple, there is so much loveliness here I couldn't pic a favorite! Merriest of Merries, Happiest of Happies to you!

  22. WOW! Now that was a fabulous tour of your Christmas home, Emily! I loved every corner, nook and cranny! My favorite framed card is that one with the bunnies in the snow with the little cottage!

Oh what a French Christmas you have had! My home is all decked out in silver and I love the feel. I did spend my holiday out in warm California and it was the best ever. Family is most definitely the best gift to open up after many years of being away from "home."

Thank you so much for coming to visit my quicky post! I do hope that 2014 will bring us all new ideas for developing our crafts and ideas. Blessings to you! Anita

  23. Your house truly sines at Christmas, Emily. I love the tartan plaid dishes!
The little elves holding the trees are very cute and whimsical.

Are you going to New Orleans? We've been there most of the week, but we're home now. We left Shanley Belle down there with her cousins and friends. She's going to the Sugar Bowl.

  26. Emily, your Christmas decor is absolutely gorgeous! Such pretty accents! I wish I knew the secret to getting my Christmas cactus to bloom for Christmas. It bloomed a couple of years ago, in the Spring; and then, last year nothing. Today, I noticed the buds just starting to open...lol! I think it's confused. Your home is stunning! Wishing you a Happy New Year!!

  27. Your Christmas decorations belong in a magazine. Stunning! The angels, the beautiful tree, the bunnies...everything is just magical. And you said you kept it simple!? I respectfully disagree!

  28. Your home looked absolutely lovey at Christmas, Emily! I loved all your special decorative vignettes and all the greenery in your kitchen. Your copper pots made me smile--I love copper! Connor looked so delighted with his new bicycle! I'm sure you had a great time watching him open gifts, as I did with my grandchildren. I had an enormous Christmas Cactus plant that I had to give away when we moved last year. The movers would not take it and we could not fit it in our car. I missed it's beautiful red blooms. I will have to find a new one to grow for next Christmas.
Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy 2014!

  30. Just viewed your Christmas post. I saw a comment you left on Pat's blog about New York. I wanted to visit you right away. It has been a while since I have seen your blog. Somehow in the switch from Google Reader to Bloglovin I lost you. Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed? So many beautiful blogs and people to enjoy and not enough time. Beautiful vignettes and tablescapes in this post. I enjoyed all your pictures. Your home is lovely.
