AL FRESCO DINING

Al fresco dining
And a little football

With September comes the beginning of fall, Labor Day weekend and college football, so, what better excuse to set the table on the veranda and dine under the lights while watching our team’s opening game. Keeping the menu simple, grilled ribs, steaks and chicken are easy for these evenings.

Grilling for Labor Day
the cook is hard at work

As the sun sets the candles are lit and ready for guests

Crimson and White flowers are team colors in galvanized pails

Love this blue and yellow Melamine, colors of Provence

I used a burlap table runner and a mix of napkins

For the wine lovers

Table is set

 And, our team won!

Everyone enjoyed the barbecue and all the sides, with lemon pie for desert. Lots of leftovers to send home with guests. A great way to celebrate the holiday.
Thanks so much for stopping in. I would love for you to leave a comment, it’s the only way I will know you stopped by.

  2. Such a delightful setting. I imagined your guests all hovering on the edge of the pictures waiting, impatient, to settle in and continue the bridge building of friendship with laughter and happy conversation.

  4. Dearest Emily, would you please save me a spot next time? Oh, I'm simply in love with your blue chairs, and how gorgeous they look with your blue and yellow plates. Also giddy for the red Adirondack set in the planter. LOVE!!!
We're headed for our best Florida weather, so I'll keep all this inspiration in mind.
    Thank you, love.

  8. Wow, wow, wow!!! What a beautiful setting!!! I love all the color both on and off the table! The little red Adirondacks in the planter....SO CUTE!!! I love that! That really speaks to the occasion and the season!

I'm impressed with your husband's grilling contraption. I have never seen anything like that, so it really intrigues me. And the ribs...they look delicious!!! MORE than delicious!!!

That's a gorgeous chandelier, and it really makes the outdoors feel more sophisticated and homey. Beautiful! I could just kick myself a billion times over for selling all the ones I had when I sold my shop a few years back!!! I should have kept at least one!!!!! Dumb, dumb, dumb on my part! :-(

I'm so glad your party went well. You put a lot of love and care and thought into the prep!

Trip recently joined the Big Green Egg cult. Our backyard and patio are still not finished, and I'm losing my mind. I'll have to enjoy yours vicariously!

  16. Great al fresco celebration on your veranda. Love your chandy and provencal dinnerware. Your plants add a special touch and the minature adirondack chairs nestled in your sedum plant is adorable. I see your husband uses an egg like mine and we cheer for the same team. Go Bama!

Are you back from your trip? We had a wonderful time on our trip but I am not recovered yet. Our family has been visiting too. I enjoyed your post. Bonnie

  19. Dearest Emily! So good to hear from you. Thank you for stopping by my new page. My head is still spinning from all these blog changes that were forced upon me, but it's so good to visit your page and listen to the music and ... breathe. I actually stopped by a couple of weeks ago just to listen to that great song.
A beautiful world indeed, my friend.
    Have a lovely day.
