HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA

Celebrating the Fourth of July

July Fourth is one of my family's favorite holidays. Sometimes we have the entire family together and other times we are with in-laws. Here are a few celebrations from the archives.

With family coming home I love to add touches of whimsy on the veranda and throughout the house. I am very patriotic and love flags and a lot of red, white, and blue!

Tablescape using red and white flowers for the centerpiece and place settings of red, white, and blue.

Firing up the grill

Hickory chips

Let the grilling begin
Chicken and ribs

My daddy made the best homemade bbq sauce but mine doesn’t even come close. Daddy, this is for you.

I love to light candles in the evening surrounded by red and white flowers.

I get busy and forget about making photos. Here are a few photos of the buffet before most of the food was out.

July Fourth means homemade ice cream.

Celebrating with my sister and brother-in-law in Atlanta

We had fun crafting and making stars for a wreath.

Ribs, slaw, potato salad, deviled eggs, corn and margarita pie. Yum!

Nightfall and we enjoy a beautiful fireworks show right from my sister’s home.

Then there are the beach celebrations where we dine out and also enjoy some bbq compliments of our son’s grilling skills.

Oh happy day, my favorite place to be on vacation is the beach!

An end to a perfect beach fourth!

With a grateful heart thanking all those who served and those still serving this great nation of ours. Wishing everyone a wonderful and safe Fourth of July.

Thanks Dad

  2. I took a double take with some of your table items and containers Emily, as I have the same ones.

The beach vacation you took looked fabulous, and it's one of my favorite places to be too. Oh, but to have a house on the beach!

    Enjoy your celebration!

  3. I love all your red white and blue patriotism Emily! The miniature vignette in the grass topped urn is adorable and I love your red and white flower buckets too! Your beach photos are magazine quality, wow, you captured the magical colors of striped blue gulf against the white sand and colorful umbrellas perfectly! The 4th of July is such a special celebration, the more flag waving the better! Hope this year's celebration is wonderful and full of all that drool worthy food, I would love a slice of Margarita Pie!

  7. Today is quiet for us. No parade visited. No fireworks viewed. Family scattered. BUT. We have each other, hotdogs, and BBQ beans. We'll pop in a movie and we're good to go.

  8. Happy Independence Day! 30-A is the place to be....anywhere on 30-A! We have had so many storms here @ Lake Martin, and Tuscaloosa and Birmingham got *hammered* today! BTW your blog isn't updating on my blog. If you go to my blog, you can look on my blog list and see what I'm talking about.

  14. It was fun re-visiting this post Emily and what a great picture of you Dad;) Thanks for stopping by to say hi! The Lavender fields are so beautiful and I love to use sachets in my dryer. The season is short so we need to visit and enjoy every second. Hope you are enjoying your summer!
