THE BRIDGES OF PARIS

River views ~ the Seine

One of my favorite things to do in Paris is walk and a great place to do this is along the Seine. Did you know there are thirty-seven bridges across the Seine, of which five are pedestrian. A view above the bridges or below, come take a stroll with me for breathtaking sights along the river.

Pont au Double

Pont de Archeveche

Locks of Love
Where visitors leave messages of love and lock their locks and toss the key into the river.  Although charming, the city of Paris began removing the rails with the locks and replaced with new rails after the weight caused sections to crumble and fall away

The Pont des Arts

Pont Alexandre III and Pont des Invalides

Pink sunset at Pont Bir-Hakeim

Pont au Change

Pont de Archeveche

Pont au Double

Pont de la Concorde

Musée d'Orsay

Notre Dame

Just a few of the sights along the beautiful Seine. I hope you enjoyed our stroll and I hope you will forgive any mistakes in the bridge names! Thank you for your visit, I hope you will leave a comment so I know you stopped in.

  1. EMILY! Bonjour! There truly is NO WHERE like Paris. Old and crumbling are some of her monuments, but forever filled with idyllic dreams of romance, history and just good old nostalgia. How I long to be there again. Thank you so much for coming by to wish us a happy anniversary. Blessings abound!

  5. Emily, this is a beautiful bright spot for an otherwise very grey and wet morning. Yes, we finally got the rain that was predicted. We certainly need it! I think I'll linger here scrolling up and down while I have my morning coffee. March is when I've frequently spend time in Paris, so this post is very timely in that regard too. Thanks for sharing your amazing photos. Excellent theme, my friend!

  8. I loved your tour (and you two look so cute together!) As others have said they bring back memories. Our Paris friend encouraged us (gave us the lock!) to put on the bridge you photographed. I feel a bit sheepish about it now but I'm still so glad we did it. It is one of my most special memories of Paris and I still don't understand why it might be considered vandalism, although I understand about the weight damaging the bridges and such -- but that means that every so often, they should be cut off. Well, I probably am more in the no-lock camp now, but I wish they could find a lovely alternative.

The Notre Dame pix -- dazzling! All wonderful!

  10. Oh, this brings back memories. I'm like that as well, my favorite thing in a new place is to take a walk and Paris is a wonderful walking ground because it is flat and there is always something interesting to look at.

  11. Lovely post of all the lovely Parisian bridges. Did you ever see the painting I painted of the entrance of a Paris bridge for Shanley's little off-campus cottage? I'll send you a link later.

  16. What an interesting way to show Paris. I don't remember if I told you, but for three years, I lived in a street right behind the Pont Mirabeau in Paris. Magical!

  17. Utterly charming. I'd heard the lock- bridge had the locks removed and was wondering how they were going to keep the locks off!
