THE SEASON OF SPRING

A Walk in the garden

While visiting the home of my mother-in-law this week I enjoyed walking through her gardens. The azaleas, roses, and honeysuckle are among some of the blooms. The irises are beginning to bloom,  beds of yellow and purple. Come and take a walk with me…..

Pretty pinks

Rosa banksia or better knows as Lady Bank's rose. Stunning!

Roses

The vegetable garden was always just beyond the azaleas. What a beautiful view to have as you work here. This is the same view out the kitchen window. Oh to start the day with a view of the little white church! With health problems now my mother-in-law can no longer tend the gardens but she enjoys her photo books and loves to talk gardening any time!

Thank you for your visit. I love your comments, it’s the only way I know you were here.

We have a little garden,
A garden of our own,
And every day we water there
The seeds that we have sown.

We love our little garden
And tend it with such care,
You will not find a faced leaf
Or blighted blossom there.

  3. Emily, your MIL's garden is gorgeous. The azaleas and iris make me think of Austin gardens this time of year. It's obvious your sweet MIL enjoyed gardening, and I know she treasures the views out her windows. Thanks for the garden walk. It's the perfect way to start my day!

  5. Such beautiful colors and blooms Emily! I was immediately taken with the view of the sweet church just beyond the gorgeous azaleas. It's unfortunate your mil can no longer work in her garden, but as you mentioned she gets joy from looking at her photos.

  7. So beautiful and serene, Emily. The only thing I have blossoming right now is the lilac, which just started to open...I brought a small bouquet in to enjoy.

  11. Oh Emily, how sad your MIL can no longer till the vegetable gardens, yet how sweet and sentimental for her to be able to relive it through her photos. That will be my future after tending the landscape is no longer possible. What beautiful varieties your MIL has. I am really looking forward to seeing my azaleas and irises bloom - within a few weeks still. Thank you for the guided stroll. I could imagine the fragrance of the roses and honeysuckle!

  17. I am enjoying this music and this floral delight!
Life couldn't get much sweeter right now.
Azaleas are so beautiful and even though they grow here in my region of Texas it can be a tad tricky because of our hot Summers-but just maybe I can plant one under a Tree:)
Thank you so much for joining us today at Thoughts Of Home On Thursday! We love having you here:)

  19. Oh what gorgeous color your MIL has in her garden. So glad you let us walk along with you. Love the pinks. We had 50 azaleas in the gardens of one of our homes several years back so now you know how much we love azaleas. We only have two at our Kentucky home so we will be working on that. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos.

  23. Oh Emily, I can't believe anywhere in the WORLD has such lovely flowers -- and yet! We still have a few cherished daffodils and some buds -- but 2" of snow predicted! I long for the day when I can walk in a garden as lovely as your mother-in-laws. (Or even a garden that isn't!). Have a lovely weekend!

  24. Emily, I enjoyed the tour of your mother-in-law's garden. When I saw that first photo, I sighed at the beauty of the scene. That pretty little church with the Azaleas blooming. Such a peaceful scene. Now I want a little white church in my backyard! Her flowers are all gorgeous, and it was a treat to take this tour. Thank you
