Remembering my sweet friend on her birthday
This past October, my beautiful friend Jenna Meon passed away. She was loved by so many as a talented artist and author of her blog, "The Painted Apron."
I was blessed to know Jenna as a special friend. We met at a blog seminar in Fairhope, Alabama many years ago and instantly connected. Over the years we shared countless conversations, confidences and festive lunches out and visited together in our homes. She wowed me with her artistic talent and gifted me with so many lovely things she created.
Today is Jenna's birthday, December 11th. Jenna and I share the same birthday month, only four days separating our birthday. We always planned a special place to have lunch and celebrate, along with our friend Ricki Jill from "The Bookish Dilettante."
The holidays will not be the same without you Jenna, but until we meet again I will remember your sweet and lovely spirit and smile.
Jenna knew daffodils were my favorites, she painted and framed daffs for a Christmas gift to sit on The French Hutch
"I wandered lonely as a cloud....
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils."
William Wordsworth Longfellow

Happy heavenly birthday to Jenna. Thank you, Emily, for sharing your sweet sorrow. 💔
ReplyDeleteOh Emily, this is beautiful. I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that Jenna isn't in our world anymore. So I can only imagine how those of you who were more immediately in her orbit, real-life friends, are feeling. I didn't realize that this was how you two met. The daffodil painting is exquisite. I can imagine her painting it, knowing it was going to live with someone whose favorite flower was this bright, cheerful trumpet of springtime joy. I send heavenly birthday wishes to Jenna. Whether four days past or four days to come, I wish you a wonderful new year.
