Seaside, Florida
A favorite beach destination

We recently returned from our spring getaway where we enjoyed a week at Seaside and Sea Grove, along Florida's scenic 30A in the Florida panhandle. Spending our time at the beach has always been our happy place where we enjoy ocean breezes and warm sand between the toes. On the one rainy afternoon we had we sat on our balcony and enjoyed reading.  Here are a few, well a lot of photos to scroll if you are planning a beach trip to the area...enjoy.

Beware of strong currents

Clay Gardens and Gifts ~ Seagrove

Louis Louis ~ Santa Rosa Beach

My favorite beach bookstore ~ Sundog Books in Seaside

A little retail therapy in Seaside

Great Southern Cafe, my favorite restaurant in Seaside

Afternoon showers

And a balcony for reading

I enjoy our drives passing grand gulf-front luxury homes

It was fun to share a few memories from our favorite beach destination. Tell me, where do you and your family go when you go to the seaside?

  1. Now that was a view, with your balcony overlooking the beach! What a wonderful time in Seaside! I have always loved that feeling of walking through the aisle between the fences with a glorious beach in front of you, then seeing that expanse of sand and water! How wonderful that must have felt for you! And of course you saw some wonderful things and had some good shopping, so I'm quite sure your tote got a good workout!

  2. I have always wanted to go to Seaside, ever since I discovered Nancy Drew's artwork and the home she decorated/painted there! Love the view you had, rain or shine!! All the shopping and dining looks so exciting (and that bloody mary made me drool a bit). Lucky you to visit here yearly!!

  3. I enjoyed traveling to the beach with you! This summer we won't be getting away to the water except a freezing mountain lake the young women can enjoy while camping. We actually had an activity yesterday for all of the missionaries, but you wouldn't want to get in the water - it was ice! That sugar white sand is so beautiful and all of the food and homes just make me salivate! Glad you had such a wonderful time.

  4. Emily, how nice to get away and enjoy some sunshine. Seaside and Sea Grove look fabulous. The food looks so delicious and the cocktails too. Beautiful scenery with some tropical ambiance. The houses and those Palm tree lined streets are awesome. Happy summer.

  5. Emily, when we go to the beach, it is always on 30A. The beaches in that area are gorgeous and fabulous food is available! I enjoyed all of your photos, kinda makes me want to take a beach vacation. Happy weekend!

  6. Your post is so lovely, Emily. You visited a few of my very favorite places on the coast: 30A is like my Mothership, especially Sun Dog Books. I love visiting the beach in spring: It's my favorite season to go to Seaside. I still haven't been to Clay Gardens, and I KNOW I would love Bouquet at Clay! I need to have a conversation with you about Clay Gardens. I hope you enjoy your family festivities this weekend!

  7. Oh, Emily, your beach photos have me longing for a trip to the coast. You always share wonderful photos of the area. I've only been to Destin once and that was many years ago. It was so pristine and such an enjoyable spot for relaxing and shopping. Our Texas coast is not nearly as pretty. Thanks for taking of along. Happy Month of May!

  8. I don’t think you can have a bad time on 30-A - even on rainy days, like you said, there’s relaxation to be found!

  11. Emily, I always think of you when one of my acquaintances goes to Destin. My boss and her daughter just enjoyed a week there, and they were celebrating the daughter getting her master's degree while working full time and raising three young boys with her supportive hubby. Do you spend time on the beach , or enjoy the beach from your balcony? Your beach photos are amazing! Wishing you a wonderful summer.

  12. I know how much you love 30A Emily and it was nice to see all your favorite places you like to visit. I loved the clay pot character and wish I could sit on the beach and eat at your favorite restaurants. What a perfect getaway!

  14. Emily, I love your recap of Seaside and other stops along 30A. I have fond memories of our stay there, and would love to return (but it's not an easy flight, and the driving is even worse!). All the quaint shops and restaurants are so inviting, not overdone, and the beach is beautiful. We always like driving through the high-end housing sections, but I always lament the headache having to manage the necessary upkeep. Thanks for taking us along to see the sights.
