Miss Martha's Hand Sewn Quilts

Anytime Miss Martha has time from her busy schedule of cooking, working in her vegetable and flower gardens you'll usually find her with a sewing needle in her hand and a large quilt in her lap. Miss Martha loves to sew for her family and for gift giving occasions . Over the years she has made baby clothes, bibs and little dresses. When our son Jay married his sweetheart Catherine she made the three youngest little granddaughters dresses to wear to the wedding.

Christmas is a special time for unpacking home sewn decorations to enjoy every year. My Mother-in-law made Tree Skirts and Christmas Stockings for everyone in her family. We all enjoy our beautiful gifts at Christmas.

Miss Martha has a love for and a special gift for sewing.
She learned early on from her Mother how to make a proper stitch, with each stitch looking just as the one before it. On a recent visit with her a few weeks ago she said she had something she wanted to show me. She carefully unwrapped the dress her Mother had made for her before she was born. She had it packed away all these years. As all of you know, you never ask or tell how old a lady is, so I won't tell the age of Miss Martha, but the dress is almost ninety-one years old. All of you can do the math.
