HAPPY NEW YEAR

Let the  New Year countdown begin!

I decided to set a table for a quiet cozy evening by the fire to celebrate New Year's Eve. Keeping it simple with a small table in front of the fireplace, I chose MacKenzie-Childs Parchment Check, so easy to work with for it's neutral color.  For the linens, a white placemat, (Kate Spade) with gold dots and napkins (Laura Ashley) with gold stripes. They both have "sparkle," what I love for a New Year's Eve setting.

Dinner and Salad plates

I used a lot of pink trees for Christmas, ordered from Home Goods. I love the sparkle and gold tipped branches on these pink bottle brush trees, perfect for this table.

Keeping dinner easy and delicious
tossed green salad and grilled filet mignon with a side of scalloped potatoes

For dessert

Baileys Irish cream coffee

And sweet nibbles

Later, a toast to the new year!

Thank you dear friends for your friendship over the years. Wishing everyone good health and a blessed new year!

Cheers!

I’ve set a place for you tonight at my New Year’s Eve table, along with places for loved ones and friends from long ago. So please join us for a toast at the stroke of midnight as we remember days gone by, and look forward to the start of a new year. In the words of Robert Burns, "let’s sing that sweet song:

For Auld Lang Syne

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup of kindness yet,

for auld lang syne.

NEW YEAR'S EVE 2018

Thank you dear friends

As we approach the end of 2017 I want to thank all of you who visit The French Hutch, those who leave comments and those who visit with me through emails and telephone calls. I am truly grateful for your friendship, encouragement and support. I was so blessed this year of 2017 to get to meet more of my blogging friends. I look forward to seeing you in 2018!

December has been a busy month for us. Since it is so cold this New Years Eve we plan to welcome the new year by staying in for a cozy dinner. I've set a table for two in front of our Christmas tree. On the menu, eggplant parmigiana and green salad dressed with a simple vinaigrette. And, of course a glass of bubbly at the stroke of midnight!

The Tablescape

One of my favorite places to shop for Christmas decorations is Pottery Barn kids. I found this exquisite peacock made from real peacock feathers half price after Christmas. Funny how collections begin, I have bought peacocks made with feathers for the last three or four years and just realized I have a collection! I plan to use this peacock under the white tabletop tree. After using it here for a tablescape I will place it under the tree since it's still up. We leave our Christmas decorations up until the day after New Year's Day.

I always have a silver tray filled with champagne flutes for ringing in the new year.

Welcome be ye that are here,
Welcome all and make good cheer,
Welcome all, another year.
