HAPPY NOVEMBER

Happy November

November, with its arrival of cool crisp air and welcomed relief from summer's humidity holds a special appeal for me. The season is perfect for cozy evenings at home by the fire with hot chocolate in a favorite mug and a good book, all while the excitement of planning and decorating for the upcoming holidays. I decided to set a Thanksgiving table using my John Derian pillows for the centerpiece. Beginning with a turkey trot down the center of the table I placed the turkey on a Nathalie Lété cake stand that's decorated with fruit. Next comes the hen along with a squirrel, owl, acorn and pear.

I included a collection of mushrooms throughout for a woodland theme I love.

I am using our Portmeirion Birds of Britain place settings.

The stemware is Nathalie Lété along with napkins I will add to the sideboard.

More mushrooms!

All from Anthropologie

I added orange kalanchoe and orange mini roses to complete the table setting. I don't think I could add another thing! The black flatware is a favorite from MacKenzie-Childs several years ago.

November is most celebrated for Thanksgiving. It is a time for giving thanks for those we love and hold dear. We will be home with family preparing a tradition feast. I would like to hear what you love about November and what you have planned for Thanksgiving. Thanks so much for your visit.

  3. Emily, I'm thrilled to see this charming table! You know I'm a John Derian fan! My beaded turkey sits centerstage on my table this year, but how clever to have a parade of all the clever pillows by JD. You know I, too, have the squirrel, and I had purchased the chicken for my sister. When she passed before I could gift it to her, I offered it to a young friend who also adores chickens. It is in a good home. Precious idea to add the scarf/napkin to the squirrel. I'm going to copy that idea.
Your the stem ware and linens are gorgeous. Both new to me, but I've long been a fan of
Natalie Lété. The china is also new to me. I love learning about different china patterns.
I can't see a mushroom without thinking of my friend, Emily!
Beautiful table for your Thanksgiving with your family. Enjoy!

  7. I didn't know Derian had pillows that were other animals. I really need to get to Target -- find a mate for my JD chicken! Your table is spectacular, Emily (as always.) I do love the Portmerien china and those flowers are the perfect color and look. What a grand time it will be at Chez Emily!
