Marie Antoinette Tablescape

Marie Antoinette inspired plates

With a suggestion from a friend on what to do for a post on Valentine’s Day, an obvious choice seemed easy enough, “use your Marie Antoinette plates and do a tablescape!” These very lovely designed, 'Ladies in Waiting' plates from Anthropologie were gifted to me for Christmas a few years back by my sister and seemed the perfect theme for a Valentine’s Day table setting.
I wanted to set a small table for four in my study. The round table I’m using is usually stacked tall with my favorite art, travel and decorating books. After setting the table and photographing the tablescape I decided to leave the table set. I think I will put it to good use over the Valentine’s Day weekend.

JULISKA WINTER FROLIC

A Valentine’s Tablescape

We have more cold, ice and snow predicted this week with two back to back storms! With plans to go to a Valentine’s dinner, I decided to go ahead and set a table should the inclement weather change our plans and keep us home.
This is the perfect excuse to use this gorgeous ruby red on white stoneware by Juliska. I received the platter for Christmas after dropping a lot of hints over it last year at Neiman’s. After the holidays I found the remaining pieces on sale at an unbelievable sixty percent off. One of those “Déjà Vu" moments when you know you’ll never see this bargain again! So, I grabbed up my bargains and didn’t let this opportunity pass me by.
This stoneware is a perfect design and color to use for this cold Valentine’s Day. Ruby red and white and the winter scenes mimic some of the gaiety occurring outside my window, provided by neighborhood school children home because of “snow day” school closings.  If the roads are dangerous because of icy conditions we plan to stay home. Either way I wanted to set a casual table in the kitchen to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
