Tales of the Traveling Tote and a Giveaway

Tales of The Traveling Tote and a Giveaway

Welcome to another adventure of the Tales of the Traveling Tote. This is where my fellow Traveling Tote friends and I share our latest travels, projects and our most current events. You will have an opportunity to visit other members at the end of this post and learn about our giveaway.

Our vacations plans this year are coming in the fall, a little late to share here today. Plans are to pack up and take a road trip to the beach, about six hours away. I'm pulling some of my photos and a previous trip from the archives to share today.

By the Shore

My favorite place to be beachside is
somewhere, anywhere along scenic Highway 30A in the panhandle of Florida's emerald coast. Jim and I look forward to a spring and fall getaway and this year we enjoyed a weather perfect week with mild temperatures and lots of sunshine.
Trips here in the past find us in a beach house, townhouse or condo. This trip we were beachfront in a condo with million dollar views. My sister and brother in law usually drive down from Atlanta to join us. Come along while I share some of my favorite places along this Florida coastal hideaway.

A previous drawing my sister did of me,
happy to be by the shore

Loving this beach house where we were guests of my sister and brother in law on several occasions. When we are in the neighborhood we always drive by to see the new homes

Seagrove

Next to the pool and only steps to the beach.  The Grove by the Sea, my favorite beach houses!

Seaside

A favorite food at the beach is blackened grouper

Served up at one of my favorite restaurants in
Seaside. Everything here is always as you remember, delicious!

Known for their key lime pie

And right next to Great Southern Cafe is my favorite beach bookstore
Sundog Books

I chose a few books from the shelves for beachside reading and relaxing

For a leisurely stroll, lunch and shopping, a great spot is Baytown Wharf in San Destin

Clay Gardens and Gifts

I love to visit this local garden and gift shop. Spring is a great time to visit for ideas and inspiration.

Rosemary Beach and a little shopping

Alys Beach

The striking architectural features of this town are traditional Bermuda brilliant-white homes. Featured with pathways and courtyards only a short walk to the beach

Home away from home for this vacation is in one of only two high rise condo's on 30A. It is always a challenge to find anything last minute. Book in advance!

Miss Courtney held my MacKenzie-Childs Berries and Blossoms set for a pretty table setting. I mixed it with the white beach theme set in the condo

Love the "waves" in the glassware

And, doing a little fall inspiration shopping,
look who finally was allowed on a shopping trip,
Miss Lulu
My MacKenzie-Childs Serendipity Bag

In 2020 the Traveling Totes celebrated our five year anniversary. In acknowledgment from MacKenzie-Childs, each member was gifted our very own custom Serendipity bag. I love the colors and patterns of my bag and I mostly use it for Christmas

Thank You MacKenzie-Childs!

  3. Emily I love seeing your beach photos. Now that I am retired, I am starting travel files and just started one on The Grove By The Sea and hope to visit the Southern Cafe as well. Enjoy your fall travels! Happy September.

  4. Emily, What beautiful pictures of our Gulf Coast! The sugar white sand can't be beat.
I love your MKC Berries and Blossoms plates. How fun to enjoy them at the beach.
Waiting until the fall when it is not so crowded to enjoy a vacation is smart.
It certainly will still be beach weather!
I know you will enjoy the food of the area again soon. Your pictures make me hungry and wish I were going.
How nice that MKC gifted each of the TT a Serendipity bag. How fun!
    Have a great getaway!

  5. Emily, I absolutely love seeing all these beach photos! Makes me feel as if I've been on a vacation of my own. I've only been to the area once many years ago. A friend and I stayed at her sister's lovely home in Sandestin. Wish we had explored more of the area! The FL Gulf is so pretty! Very different from the Texas Gulf where I grew up.
Have a fabulous trip when you head out again. I know you must be so ready!!! Happy September, dear friend. I miss you!

  6. We've only taken one trip to Route 30A - in Seaside - but both of us have said we'd love to go back. Those planned communities all along there are so inspiring! However, it's over 800 miles from us, so it would be at least nearly 13 hours without stops. Your adventures in all those beach towns look so inviting, Emily. I know just making plans has to be fun. Happy September!

  7. I know how much you love your beach vacations, Emily. I have been on 30A and I believe we stayed in Seacrest. It was a wonderful vacation several years ago. You have something to look forward to soon! Happy September!

  8. Oh Emily, I so enjoyed my virtual trip to 30A with you! So many charming places, shops, and restaurants...I haven't been to that part of FL in ages, we almost bought a house on 30A back when we were looking years ago, so beautiful there and gorgeous beaches! I do hope you get to have a beach trip this fall, September and October are my favorite months on the coast {except when there is a pesky hurricane 😂 } Happy September!

  10. Everything about this sounds just divine, Emily. The views are fabulous. The food looks to die for. And a wonderful book store! I think I would have had a rather challenging time maintaining any sense of budget with those cute shops and their wonderful inventory. Best of all, with people you love and like. Can't beat that!

  11. Alys Beach caught my eye immediately, but I think I could be a happy camper in any of these gorgeous locations. I've never been to the Florida Gulf beaches. Thanks for sharing and for dropping by for a visit. CherryKay

  12. Emily, this post has gotten me so excited about our trip in a couple of weeks. We will be staying in a townhouse at Watercolor that's right on the beach. :D
I need to call you before we leave because I have a few questions from your post. Your photos are lovely! Your photo of Miss Courtney on the sugar white sand beach is gorgeous. I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend, and Roll Tide!
